Birthday at Hooter's - Don't do this at home

So yesterday I was in Hooter's restaurant and it really was my Birthday. After my co-workers & I finished eating,  "Scooby", our waitress, asked if anyone wanted dessert.  Now, I've been in some restaurants where you get something for free if you go there on your birthday, so with this in mind, I asked Scooby if I could get a free dessert for my birthday.  It was not until she ran off that I had a bad feeling about what was going to happen next.  All of a sudden, I remembered what else I had seen at some of the crazier eating establishments & how sorry I felt for the Birthday boy or girl!!

At this point, I was regretting my decision to speak up!  I dreaded the thought of a group of wait staff gathering around our table to sing to me! But that would have been good compared to what was in store for me...it was worse than I could have imagined!

Yes, the wait staff (not surprisingly, all female) did gather at our table but then they insisted I get up & walk out into the open.  They handed me two cone-shaped water cups (>>) & told me to put them in my mouth to form a beak.  Then they made me stand up on a chair.  I was given two menus for wings & instructed to flap them while the Hooter's girls sang to me.  What did they sing?  I have no idea because I was so incredibly mortified by the whole thing!!!  As soon as I could get down, I slunk back to my seat.  As far as I know, no one snapped a photo so I can deny the whole incident if necessary!

The bottom line is that I did not get a free dessert, drink, t-shirt or anything other than embarrassed to death in front of strangers & work associates.  But I cannot blame anyone but myself because in my attempt to get something for nothing, I set myself up!  So the moral of the story is if you want to have some really great wings, go to Hooters, but never, and in this case, I repeat, never, go there on your birthday!  And if, like me, you end up there on your birthday by some strange twist of fate, DO NOT let the waitress know it IS your birthday!!!!  Unless, of course, you enjoy being made a fool in public!  In that case, maybe you will enjoy it!
