I've fully recovered from my embarassing experience at Hooter's last week (though I do not plan to go there again in the near future!). Now it is just a funny story to tell. In the meantime, I've been keeping my eyes open for cool license plates and I am never disappointed! The other day, at home in Niagara Falls, I ran into Tops, a local grocery store, for a few things and as I walked back to my car, I saw an Ontario plate that said MCKY MOUS! Today, I flew from Buffalo to NYC (to get to work) and then worked a flight from JFK to San Diego. I had a couple of hours to spare in San Diego so I went hunting for plates again. Once again, I made a couple of finds that really pleased me. One was SOXFANN which is my second Red Sox plate (the first was, logically, from MA but the one today was a CA plate so it might belong to a transplant.) Next I discovered some plates from Mexico, the Baja Peninsula to be more specific. I had never seen them before (or I should say, I never noticed them on previous San Diego layovers. My other big find was an Alaska plate!! That is not something I would have expected to find here in So Cal. (Of course, I was just as surprised to find a Hawaii plate at the Seattle Tacoma airport last month.) Do you think the owners drove the vehicles here? (Okay, probably not the Hawaii one, but what about the Alaska vehicle?)
It is really addicting to go searching for gr8 pl8s! It gets me out of my hotel and walking all around. I get to see lots of the streets around my hotel. (It's much cheaper than shopping for a couple of hours! Although I did find a great travel store today on Fourth St. & made a purchase...)
By the way, just an observation: The passengers traveling from JFK to SAN today were exceptionally pleasant, and that is saying alot because this route regularly has nice passengers!
Can I just say, it was very disturbing to learn of a plot to cause destruction at JFK airport which is where I spend many days & nights every month. It reminds me why it is important to put up with the delays, aggrevations & inconveniences that we encounter at the airports all across the nation. We need all the security & intelligence personnel we can get working to keep our country free from terrorism.
Keep posted & fly safe.
